How Buying an Australian-made Trailer Supports the Local Economy

SA Trailer Manufacturers

As a leading trailer builder in Adelaide, we really value working with a range of South Australian and Australian parts and components manufacturers. We make a point of working with local suppliers for a range of reasons, not least of which is that our customers benefit through getting a high quality finished product, and the local economy gets a boost through our support of other Australian businesses.

We use 100% Australian steel

At Basic Trailers, we only ever use 100% Australian steel in the manufacture of our range of trailers, which includes box trailers, cage trailers, car trailers, tipper trailers, stock crate trailers and flat top trailers. Unlike some other Adelaide trailer builders, we don’t import our steel from overseas — instead, our steel comes entirely from local manufacturers.

Australian-made steel is superior in quality to much of the steel that is imported from overseas, and this is an important factor as to why our trailers are stronger, more durable and offer better value than trailers from many other manufacturers.

Trailers designed and built in Adelaide

The quality of our workmanship is something that we think sets Basic Trailers apart from other Adelaide trailer builders, and we take great pride in the fact that all of the design, fabrication and welding of our trailers is done in-house, at our workshop in Pooraka.

In particular, the fact that we do all of our own trailer designs using high-end CAD simulation software and CNC machinery is why we have been able to expand our range of trailers in order to meet our customers’ needs. We have recently added flat top trailers and stock crate trailers to our extensive range, to go along with our selection of plant and car trailers, and all of the design work in creating these new lines has been done by members of our team.

This means that when you are buying a trailer in Adelaide from Basic Trailers, you can be sure that all of the work — from the design, to the welding, to the final coat of paint — is done here, and that you are supporting a growing local business.

Supporting Australian workers

We place a premium on sourcing the best possible parts, components and other services from SA and Australian businesses. This is because we value the quality of Australian workmanship, as well as our belief in supporting local industry. It also plays a vital role in keeping jobs here, rather than having them outsourced to offshore locations, and so buying a trailer from Basic Trailers helps to grow a range of associated trades and manufacturers as well.

Some of the Australian businesses whose products and services we use in the building of our trailers include:

  • Liberty One Steel
  • Brice Metals
  • Magnetic Engineering
  • Signal Waste
  • Alan Metal Fabrication
  • Florite Coatings
  • Tycab Australia
  • Whitevision
  • Manutec Trailer Parts
  • Aceit Couriers
  • Adelaide Laser

Durability and value for money

Using Australian steel, as well as parts and components from local suppliers, means that we have greater quality control, and can ensure that only the best materials are used in our trailers. This isn’t always possible to the same degree when steel and other trailer parts are imported from abroad. We take great pride in our trailers being strong and durable enough to handle demanding Australian conditions, and we are better placed to do this with steel and parts that are made here.

Also, as all of the design and building of our trailers is done in-house at our Pooraka workshop, we have been able to streamline our production processes in such a way as to make them more cost-effective, so that we can pass on the associated savings to our customers in the form of great value trailers. By doing everything locally, we know that our trailers offer the best value in Adelaide.

Why Buy an Imported Trailer When You Can Buy One Made in Adelaide?

We think it’s a no-brainer that when you are looking to buy a trailer in Adelaide that it makes more sense to buy one that is built here too. Our many satisfied customers think so as well, gauging by the rave reviews that we constantly receive.

What’s more, if you want to find out more about what sort of trailer will best suit your needs, who better to talk to than the people who have designed and built it? You are always welcome to call us, or visit our workshop in Pooraka and meet Sam or other members of the team, who will not only talk you through our range of trailers, but also show you the benefits you get when you buy local.

Call Sam on 1300 770 770 or email info@basictrailers.com.au and we will be happy to help.
